The Bug Turns Nine

On September 22, 2003 God blessed me with a perfectly precious baby girl.... on September 22, 2012 she turned nine!! Holy crap.... that went by fast!!!! This year her birthday fell on a Saturday so we were able to celebrate on the actual day but it was hot, Hot, HOT!! One never knows what the weather is going to be like this time of year in Texas.... last year the weather was gorgeous and the year before we got flooded out! I think from now on we are going to plan to have an indoor party just to cover all our bases.

My sweet chicken is growing up!! She decided that she wanted to have a Monster High makeup party.... interesting concept. We got a bunch of spray hair color, play make up, nail paint and a bunch of other 'make me pretty' stuff (thank goodness stores stock for Halloween in September).  We had about 20 little girls, a handful of adults and 2 very brave boys at the house for her party... PLUS one amazing teenage helper!!!! Over all I think everyone had a great time and Kalie enjoyed having all of her friends over to celebrate her special day!!

As my dad so kindly pointed out, this is Kalie's last year being a single digit.... from now on she will be at least a 2 digit age..... I am not ready for this.

It seems like this year has just flown by.... how can it already be September? My sweet bug will be 9 on the 22nd of this month... holy jeeze!!!! There is no way my sweet little girl can be half way through elementary school and 9 years old!!! Yeesh!! Everyday she amazes me more and more and I am so very thankful that God chose me to be her momma!

What makes this upcoming birthday even more emotional for me is the fact that we will soon have another little nugget joining our family. When nugget celebrates their 9th birthday my sweet bug will be... give me a minute while I catch my breath... 18. That means she will be getting ready to graduate high school.... she will be ready for college... she will be moving to either Austin or Fort Worth (we have declared that she can only attend UT or TCU, duh). I am SO not ready for all that!!!

For now though, she is my sweet Kalie bug and thats all that matters. Oh, and she still thinks I'm pretty cool.... most of the time.

My Bestfriends Wedding

So, one of my bestest friends finally got married!! Her wedding was beyond beautiful and loads of fun.... they had an open bar, HELLO!!

Vanessa & Keannon got engaged in February of 2011 and were married on April 13, 2012. Although they were engaged for over a year her entire wedding was pretty much planned in a little over 6 months... no joke... it was crazy.

Vanessa is blessed with amazing friends and she was able to have a bachelorette weekend at a girl friends lake house on Possum Kingdom lake... amazeballs!!!

I headed out to lake on Friday afternoon to help Michelle, the house hostess, get everything ready for the bride to be. Now, if you know Vanessa you know she is always late... always... at least 10 min... except when its her bachelorette weekend... then she shows up HOURS early!!! Michelle and I were seriously running around her house like a couple of lunatics trying to get everything ready before the bride showed up.... Now, if you know Michelle and I  you know that we are amazing and pulled everything together, duh.

Once we got everything together... and by everything together I mean opened the liquor, took some shots and made some drinks... Michelle offered to drive us around the lake and show us some beautiful homes and where all the fires had burned... which was pretty much everywhere, so sad. Also, we realized we didn't have eggs for the banana bread and had to go yank one from a neighbor. 

When we got back to the house from our golf cart expedition VJ started getting calls from the other party guests who were lost trying to find the house... being the nice people we are, VJ and I went to go meet them... and found some construction equipment along the way....

The evening progressed nicely.... thanks to great company and plenty of booze the remaining pictures from that first evening are not be shared publicly as several of us are mothers and proper ladies... yes, ladies. 

On Saturday Michelle used her Cliffs pass to get us all into the pool at the club house, perf. 

 It pays to have your hairstylist as your matron of honor. 

We basically had the pool to ourselves which allowed us to consume ridiculous amounts of mimosas, act like idiots and chow down on some deliciousness. Surprisingly, we all managed to stay sober enough to make it back to Michelle's to get ready for VJ's lingerie shower & dinner at the Grill at the Harbour that night. 

By Sunday everyone was exhausted... i.e. hungover and sunburnt. It was a fabulous weekend filled with good friends, good food and plenty of booze!!! Hey Michelle... can I put in a reservation for my bachelorette party!?!?!?!

Its been awhile... And, how things have changed!

I have been meaning to get back to the blog world for awhile now... and boy to we have a lot going on!! This year has been a busy one filled with many blessings, special events and many, many memories!!!

To kick the year off we were busy planning one of my very best friends weddings!!! It was an amazing experience and I am so grateful to have been given the honor of serving as Maid of Honor!! Vanessa got married on April 13, 2012 at a beautiful home in Mineral Wells, Tx.

Less than a week after her wedding Cody and I got ENGAGED!!!!!!!! We had been talking about getting engaged for awhile now but it finally happened and we couldn't be more excited!!

Then, to top it all off Cody and I got the surprise of our life.... we found out we were expecting a sweet little jelly bean in December of this year!!! HOLY MOLY!!!

And, because we didn't have enough going on, we bought a house!!!

So, just to recap everything, get engaged in April... find out we are expecting in May.... bought a house in June... and officially moved in the weekend before Kalie started third grade!! YIKES!!! Needless to say, we have been busy.

All of this excitement has made me realized how desperately I need a place to write down memories and share pictures which has brought me back to my long lost blog!! Hopefully I will find the time and the energy to share pictures of my sweet bug as she enjoys her second year of Bobcat cheerleading and her life as a third grader along with pictures of our new home (as soon as I get it all pretty and blog presentable) and of course, our new addition!!

I have so much to write about and share but even I need time to digest all the information I just spit out!!!

The 1st on the 3rd

So, I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while now.... but time is very hard to come by. Fortunately I finally graduated college in December which frees up some time for me to chronicle this crazy life I love!!! My plan was to start on this blog on the 1st of January.... but as usual... it is already the 3rd and I am just now starting!! As I type this I am sitting on the couch with my sweet Kalie-bug watching Despicable Me.... for the 3rd time in as many days. I cant complain though, its better than Spongebob....

I am excited to have a place to share all the happenings in life as I know 2011 will bring with it an exciting series of events, all of which I cannot wait to experience! On the top of the list is watching Kalie continue to develop into a beautiful young lady and enjoy the final months of her first grade year! Coming in a close second is finding out if I got into law school or not.... a dream of mine that will hopefully be realized by an acceptance sometime in January!!!
